Connect With Boise: Collaborative Community Art Project

The goal of this series is to celebrate the epic and everyday Boise moments that have built our community’s history. Using social media and photo archives I want to collect images of historical and contemporary Boise to create intimate and approachable paintings inspired by the city and its people. A crucial piece to this project is community participation. I need people to email me or post Boise photos on Instagram using the hashtag #ConnectWithBoise so I can collage them in my paintings. Ideally the first iteration of this series will be paintings of 20 landmarks or themes to be shown in the Spring of 2019.

Here's how we're going to do that!

1. I've been working with the rad folks at the Idaho State Archive and other community members to find historic photos of Boise. If you have some photos in your own archive you'd like to share and allow me to use (don't worry you keep the originals) send me an email at meg@connectwithmeg.com.

2. I'm going to need your help! Yes you, pretty please! For this series of Connect With Boise paintings I need contemporary photos from today to add alongs side the historic photos from the past. If you like taking photos and want an excuse to post some more photos on Instagram please consider looking at my list of places bellow and or doing one of my Boise History Scavenger Hunts. You'll have a chance to win an original piece of art from the project with your photos in it!

3. After collecting photos from the community, AKA you all, I'm going to use the photos to collage and create paintings similar to the ones bellow. My goal is to have the first collection of work done by the Spring of 2019.
